Control of Fleas and Mites

There can be nothing more infuriating than scratching an itch that never seems to go away.

Even the mention of the words “Fleas & Mites” starts people scratching. I have known tenants and homeowners rip up and dump carpets, burn mattresses and sofas and scrub and bleach cupboards out of pure frustration because Fleas or Mites have been spotted in their home.

That’s sort of understandable, I hear many of you say but there must be an easier solution. The “Professional Use Only” products that are available to us contains the most effective active ingredients and together with our experience, specialist equipment and know-how, we can solve your Flea problem for you.

If you have a pet dog or cat, we will need to work together with you on this.

Almost all of the flea infestations in the UK are dog or cat Fleas, which are the same thing.

In the event of Flea activity in your home or workplace, don’t think it’s because your premises are dirty, Fleas are known to select all manner of houses, offices, hotels, B&B’s, shops, etc most of which have professional cleaners on a regular basis. No, Fleas will do their thing wherever they land.

You can buy Flea traps, dust, insecticide powders or aerosol sprays from either veterinary outlet’s, the internet or DIY shops but don’t expect results after one DIY treatment. All areas of the house will need to be treated, not just the room you or someone else got bitten in.

Do Not Apply Insecticidal Aerosols Or Dusts, Developed For Applying To Carpets And Soft Furnishings, Directly To Any Animal.

This is where our technicians can be of help. With the advantage of operating the correct sprayers or fumigators and having access to “Professional Use Only” products, we can effectively cover the whole premises, either domestic or office space, very thoroughly and leave no area untreated. We can also supply Flea monitoring pads. This will allow you to
keep an eye on the start of any annual activity reoccurring and act accordingly.

If you have a pet or a visiting cat or dog you will need to treat them using a good quality Fleas & Ticks Treatment. The product you buy should:

  • Kill fleas on your pet within 24 hours
  • Stop flea eggs hatching in your home
  • Kill ticks within 48 hours, helping reduce the risk of tick-borne diseases
  • Kill lice

Any fumigation of an enclosed space is a dangerous process in any circumstances. After any treatment has been completed, worktops in kitchens should be washed down, spaces should be ventilated well. In all cases, humans and all animals, especially tropical, marine and goldfish, must not be present. – Call for Free advice.

Mites

Like any biting insects, Mites can cause an allergic reaction.

Barely visible to the naked eye, mites have eight legs and a round body and are seldom noticed until they have built up sufficient numbers to be a major infestation. They are not insects but are arachnids, related to spiders.

The typical mite emerges from its tiny egg in a dark crevice as a six-legged nymph, growing by a series of moults and acquiring another pair of legs in the process. Some species can survive starvation for up to six months.

They are attracted to a variety of conditions, hence the different types of Mite:

  • House Mites
  • Dust Mites
  • Furniture Mites
  • Flour Mites
  • Scabies Mites
  • Bird Mites

Self-treatment of a mite infestation is unlikely to be successful. Failed treatments will occur if the accurate knowledge of Mites is absent. A trained professional will have the technical expertise and access to a range of Professional Use Products and equipment which are not available to the public.
