Responsibilities for Pests for Tenants & Landlords

Here’s a reminder below of the processes and procedures as it relates to responsibility for pest issues –

Tenants Responsibilities:

  • If your tenancy agreement states that it is the tenant’s responsibility, then please inform your landlord or letting agent and contact us. We will then most certainly work with you and your landlord(s) to treat / resolve the pest issues.
  • If your tenancy agreement states that the responsibility falls on the landlord, then all respective tenants should report all issues to the landlord or the property manager. This should be done as soon as possible. You should always keep a log of all communications with things like this, so archive any emails or texts for your own records.

Landlords’ Responsibilities:

  • Once the pest related issues are reported by tenants, then the landlord or the letting agent is responsible for the following:
  • Fixing any holes in the wall or floor that allow pests to enter.
  • And generally being responsible for dealing with infestations of pests and vermin until resolved.
